Meet Our Team

Dr. Todd Lykins DVM

Dr. Todd is a lifelong resident of the Champaign area.  He earned his DVM in 1983 from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine.  From 1983 to 1998, Dr. Todd managed a number of local veterinary clinics, but missed the true doctor-patient relationship.  He elected to focus on one hospital, which led him to open The Pet Pro in Champaign in 1998.

Dr. Todd has enjoyed every minute of getting to know each client and their furry family members.  When Dr. Todd is busy with clients, his highly qualified staff can provide you with detailed answers to your questions.  He loves bringing his dogs to work every day.  They are truly part of the Pet Pro team.  Many people just stop by to meet his pets, known as Snow Angels (English Cream golden retrievers).

Dr. Todd lives in Mahomet, Illinois with his wife, Gina Lykins RN. He has a daughter named Taylor.  In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family and taking care of his pets, which include a number of wonderful dogs.

Gina Lykins RN

Yes, this truly is a 'family practice',  Gina has been working at The Pet Pro since 1998. Prior to this, she worked at Carle Hospital, Urbana, IL in Pediatrics for 2 years, then Adult Medicine for 8 years.  Gina enjoyed the 'people' side of medicine, but has also always been drawn to animal care.  It seemed a right fit to cross over to animal medicine, so that she could work with Todd and also bring their daughter (Taylor) to work each day when she was growing up.  And, of course, she loves the ability to bring her dogs to work.  How perfect is that?? It does not get any better as far as Gina is concerned.  Much like the human pediatric patient, the nurse must rely upon the parents for their observation skills of their much loved family member.  Working with these parents, whether human, canine or feline, is most interesting to Gina, as well as the entire staff at The Pet Pro.

Taylor Lykins

Taylor is the daughter of Dr. Todd and Gina Lykins.  She began coming to the clinic to 'work' at the mere age of 3 years of age in 1998.  Now all these years later, she lives in Missouri, but is able to work remotely as a member of The Pet Pro. She is currently working to obtain her Masters in Public health.  Taylor had initially wanted to follow in her grandfather and her father's footsteps and be a veterinarian.  After being diagnosed at the age of 17 with an aggressive form of multiple sclerosis, she was fortunate to have been able to have a stem cell transplant in May of 2016.  Taylor has done wonderfully.  She is MS symptom-free since having the transplant.  She received the most amazing care from the nurses at Northwestern in Chicago.  Their empathy and compassion caused her to change her life's course and her want to work on the human side of health, as opposed to the animal side. However, while she is going through her master's program for public health, she will remain working with us here at The Pet Pro.  We are so fortunate to have her as part of the team.  Therefore, Taylor now has over 25 years experience at The Pet Pro!
